Introduction
The Garner PD-4He Destroyer is an automatic hard drive "crusher", specially developed for physically destroying hard drives. With the PD-4He, two standard 3.5" hard drives or even six 2.5" laptop drives can be destroyed simultaneously in 28 seconds. The physical destruction of hard disks gives the certainty that they can no longer be accessed.
Prior to physical destruction, hard drives are usually erased with a hard disk drive degausser. Here, the magnetic information on the HDD platters is completely removed with a strong electromagnetic pulse. Combined with the physical destruction, this gives complete security in the field of data security.
The operation of the Garner PD-4He is simple; a hard disk is placed in the input opening and the crush cycle is started by pressing the start button. The hard disk is cracked lengthwise with a metal wedge, in which both the data platters, the housing, the heads and electronics are bent and broken.
The Garner PD-4 destroyer is "NSA Evaluated" and is listed on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for hard drive Destroyers. Due to the compact dimensions of the PD-4He and the optional transport case, hard disks can be physically destroyed at any desired location.
