Introduction
The SV91M from VS Security Products is a manual tape degausser. The SV91M degausser has been developed specifically for the erasure of DLT and LTO tapes. In addition, this universal, very powerful degausser is suitable for almost all other existing magnetic audio, video and data tapes and cassettes. The SV91M is a "security" tape degausser. This means that the unit has been approved by the British government and has received the "CESG Approved" certification. The SV91M has also been approved by NATO for safety applications.
The VS Security Products SV91M degausser works with an internal electromagnet that generates a strong, continuous magnetic field. The magnetic field is oriented so that it is maximally just above the surface of the SV91M degausser. Tapes and floppy disks are professionally erased by moving them over the top of the SV91M degausser through the magnetic field. This resets the polarity of the metal particles and deletes the previously recorded signal completely. The SV91M degausser has a magnetic force of up to 7,000 Gauss.
The SV91M operates in a non-continuous 3-minute cycle, after which the unit automatically turns off for 10 minutes to cool down. The SV91M can erase up to 40 DLT or LTO tapes per hour. An overview of all media supported by the SV91M is listed in the technical specifications.
A special transport case is optionally available for transport of the SV91M degausser.
